On 16 March, over 350,000 people marched in the streets of France for the “March of the century”. This day of mobilisation followed on from the worldwide movement of youth strikes on 15 March. The objective of these events was to denounce insufficient measures taken by governments to respect COP 21 commitments to fight against climate change.
Considering “it is time to change the industrial, political and economic system to protect the environment, society and individuals”, 140 French civil society organisations, including GRET, had signed the call for mobilisation (in french).
At GRET headquarters in Nogent-sur-Marne, as well as in several international representations, workshops to reflect on GRET’s social and environmental responsibility were initiated. The objective of these was to take immediate and medium term measures to reduce the carbon and ecological footprints of our practices.
