The Food security, resilience and agroecology in Guinea project implemented by GRET and its partners* aims to improve resilience by strengthening the autonomy of family farms in Middle Guinea and Forest Guinea, which are faced with health crises and climate changes.
As part of this project, a first national workshop on the subject of “Issues and perspectives for sustainable family farming in Guinea” was held on 10 and 11 October last. This meeting created a forum for important discussions among the 83 participants representing farming and professional organisations, civil society organisations, technical and financial partners, and State technical services working in the rural development sector in Guinea.
Reflections focused on the issues facing family farming and the means necessary to promote it and exploit its full potential. During these two days, participants insisted on the need for greater support for family farming in Guinea in order to feed populations, create wealth, and improve living conditions for farmers and their families, while preserving natural resources.
