Consideration of young people in fragile contexts

Consideration of young people in fragile contexts

What are the challenges when conducting training and professional integration projects?

In the face of today’s major transitions, young people face a number of challenges that they must overcome if they are to integrate into society, both socially and economically. This issue is all the more important in contexts of fragility, hit by multidimensional crises. Often, situations of fragility create “malaise” among young women and men, who cannot find their place, who feel neglected, instrumentalized or betrayed; they are in search of prospects, identity and social status, sometimes at the risk of their lives.

In response to this challenge of integrating young people, the JADE (Jeunesses Actrices du monde de DEmain) program teams are developing innovative ways of supporting young people in their quest for full integration, so that they can become genuine players in their own development and that of their region.

This report aims to show the correlation between the social and economic integration of young people. It attempts to answer the question: what are the issues involved in taking account of young people in fragile contexts within training and professional integration projects?

This note outlines the impact of fragile contexts on young people’s integration pathways, the specific social and political integration issues facing young people in their training and professional integration projects, and the steps we can take to ensure that young people are better taken into account in these contexts, with a view to ensuring their full integration (economic and professional integration, social and civic integration, environmental and climate integration).
