In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gret has been active since the 1990s in the fields of support to civil society, agriculture, and the development of water supply and waste management services. To this end, it has implemented numerous projects and provided technical expertise in various parts of the country, including Kinshasa, Haut-Katanga, Kongo Central, and Haut-Uele (Garamba National Park), among others.

Currently, Gret’s activities are mainly focused in the city-province of Kinshasa. There, it works to strengthen civil society, carry out awareness-raising actions, support communities in addressing flood risks, and help organize sanitation services in urban neighborhoods. Gret also supports its local partner, Caritas Développement Kinshasa, in strengthening market gardening organizations around the Liziba agroecological center.

This presence is expected to evolve in line with future projects and partnerships in the country.
