GRET has been working in Mauritania since 1991, encouraging local initiatives and know-how, taking a participative approach in order to contribute to meeting the essential needs of populations, in line with public policies.

GRET provides sustainable, appropriate responses, for example by creating youth centres to boost vocational training and integration. It encourages a market-based approach, notably via the installation of water purification stations and promotion of sanimarkets. It also contributes to providing access to energy in rural areas, by developing multifunctional solar platforms and producing an innovative alternative fuel.
