The town of Creil is continuing its commitment to the commune of Nabadji Civol in Senegal

Actualité

“The commune of Creil has more than one hundred different nationalities”, says Jean-Claude Cabaret, deputy mayor of Creil, a town with a population of 35,000 located north of the greater Paris region. “The town’s commitment to international solidarity is logical given the make-up of its population”, he continues, referring to the launch of a second phase of the Water and sanitation project in Nabadji Civol, a rural commune in the north-east of Senegal with a population of 60,000.

After a successful first phase that improved access to drinking water for over 3,000 people and enabled the construction of sanitation facilities in two schools and the commune’s market, eight villages with no access to water and four schools with no toilets will benefit from this second phase.

This new phase was launched on 5 October last with the signature of the operational agreement by Pierre Jacquemot, chairperson of GRET, in the presence of the deputy mayor of Creil and the international relations mission coordinator, Julie Legrand.

This project, with an overall budget of 506,564 € over a two-year period, is funded by the  Seine-Normandie (in French) water agency, the Creil Sud Oise Urban Area (ACSO) (in French), the Office of rural drilling in Senegal (OFOR) (in French) and the two local authority partners: Creil (in French) and Nabadji Civol. It is conducted locally by the latter, with support from GRET and NGO Le Partenariat, which will provide project management assistance and assistance to the project owner.
